Wow. What a slow advertising period it’s been over the last month or so. Or maybe I’m just not paying attention. I thought I was going to have to bust Ford Motor Company’s chops again for their incredibly sad “Live on the Edge” campaign. Both a visual and linguistic pun. Super. Thanks. Really.
Fortunately, the folks at Mini – and their new agency Butler, Shine, Stern & Partners – are happily trucking along without CP+B with their new minisite Hammer & Coop. It’s a fairly sweet parody of late 70s action flicks, Starsky & Hutch and Knight Rider. Four episodes have been posted so far, and I think they’ve gotten better as they’ve gone along.
Hard to complain about any episode entitled “Ninjas, Ninjas and More Ninjas.” Also, bonus points for Appropriate Use of Asia (the Band) in Advertising. See episode four for that.
And while this idea isn’t new, it’s always fun to use the action name generator.

You’re so right. That Edge campaign pity inducing. Truly.
